Hello, hello!
How have the first five months of twenty-twenty-three been for you?
I came across this quote on a friend's WhatsApp bio, and it has stuck with me ever since:
"समय को समय के अतिरिक्त कोन समझ पाया है"
"Only time has understood time well."
Every second of our lives, we are in a constant state of flow. Within us, every atom is evolving, and our blood is gushing through. We go through cycles of creation and destruction, and together, these cycles help us evolve as beings.
However, our attachment to the material world often makes us hold onto past feelings and energies, causing us to live with the residue of yesterday while today is happening to us.
[song i was listening to while writing this letter]
While "Carpe Diem" is a beautiful phrase, it can be challenging to practice. Letting go of unaccomplished dreams or feeling complacent with achieved ones is difficult. As we try to hold onto things, people, dreams, and feelings, life passes by us moment by moment.
It's like sitting on a window seat during a train journey. Trains and rivers pass by, but nothing is truly passing. It's you who is moving through time and space while holding onto your sense of safety.
For me, the first five months have been filled with excitement for my closest friend's wedding. It's a beautiful feeling to witness your friend getting married, especially when they are so thrilled about it.
In other aspects of life, I have been consistently focusing on my physical health and going to the gym daily. It feels great to sweat and burn those calories.
(I originally wanted to write this letter about my zero to one journeys, but I had to adhere to the natural flow of my mind, and I like how the words have shaped up here.)
Regarding my fitness journey, back in 2018, I was diagnosed with bone tuberculosis, and in January 2019, I was told that I might never walk again.
This had a severe impact on my emotional well-being. I have always loved walking, but for two long years, I was confined to my bed. Life can be frustrating when it throws unwanted challenges at you, but we can only make sense of them when we look back at our journey.
Fast forward from 2019, and today I have started to run a little. While I can't run a lot, I can walk quite a bit. In March, I even beat my previous walking record after recovering from tuberculosis, walking a total of eleven kilometers in a day.
It has been an enthralling journey, and what has kept me going despite all the odds is the zeal to keep walking and my faith in the universe.
Sometimes in life, it may be challenging to find meaning in the present moment. But it's important to remember that everything you do today will compound into something meaningful, something you yearn for, and it will manifest itself.
Love,
Yash
